Watercolour Music WCMCD34, £12.99 Named after the feared pirate ship, and born in remote Ardgour at famed folk recording studios Watercolour, this is the second collaboration between owner Nick Turner and Back of the Moon's Findlay Napier.
A rich palette of guest musos adds colour, and if the singing is not the best in the world, the articulate irony, early-onset grumpy old man syndrome and daft surrealism fuse in songs about nuclear fission, whisky and wrongly sexed tortoises.
Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeard's infamous flagship: a piratical vessel for the wicked, the wayward and those too lazy or ill-bred to succeed in polite society. So to the band – but even that is a lie. An acerbic partnership of self-interest; a temporary coalition of ambition rounded up and pointed roughly in the same direction
Herein the official site of Queen Anne's Revenge - The Highlands-based songwriting team of Findlay Napier and Nick Turner - you will find cheerful songs about death and rejection, bittersweet melancholic airs and rhymes about love and success. All the flotsam and jetsam of the mainstream washed up and painstakingly sifted for what little interest it has left to offer.
There are song lyrics, MP3's to download and CD's to be purchased. There are links to some of the stories that litter the QAR back catalogue.
