Our story
Highland Whispers
Highland Whispers is a virtual gathering of six artists from different disciplines, brought together by Watercolour Music as folk that we admire, have worked with or been inspired by over the years. It’s based in the Highlands but embraces folk with connections or perspectives – linguistic, cultural, geographical – to the place as well..
There are five creating artists - Alex Boyd, Victoria Caine, Pádraig Ó Tuama, Anna Raven, Nick Turner - and project manager, Mary Ann Kennedy, who has added her artistic input, never ending support and advice and has kept everything ticking along with a flair for spreadsheets and logistics.
The idea was born a long time ago, thinking about ways of getting over the classic Highland challenges of distance, communication and rural location. When lockdown happened and the creative sector across the nation explored new ways to share their work, to stay connected and to transcend the isolation and separation. We thought this was finally the right time for the whispers. So here we are!.
